Land Purchase
Another piece of land at Gethsemane Home has been purchased. We want to thank those who made this possible. This land borders the Gethsemane Home property. Future improvements for this added space are in the planning stage. God keeps providing for this ministry. We are so grateful for the continued support for Under the Son Ministries.
Mission Trip 2015 Update
In 8 weeks we will be leaving for our 2015 mission trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand. Airline tickets have been secured, devotions are being written, and gifts for the children are being bought. Brandon and Jen Jensen, Keira Kessler, Jim Davis, Megan Hoyt, Bobbi Walker, and Steve and Donella Sherry ask for your prayers as we make final preparations. We’re excited to see the family at Gethsemane Home and to work with Titus and the other people involved in this ministry.
We are still in the process of raising funds for the projects we will be completing during this visit. If you would like to help in any way, please contact us at 660-254-5775.
Bible Training Classes
One of the things we loved about Titus while we were living in Thailand was his dedication to teaching the children about the Bible. Besides the weekly devotion time that we were involved in, our family at Gethsemane had morning devotions during the week. It is great to know that Titus still has the children involved in Bible training today. Every Monday evening, Titus takes the children to Asia’s Hope where Gethsemane Home, along with Asia’s Hope Homes #1 and #2 study the Bible. The children are divided into age groups of younger, middle, and older children. Titus teaches the middle age students and has around 40 in his class. They started in Genesis and are now in Judges. A few weeks ago the children were tested on their knowledge of the book of Joshua. In the older group Casalyn was #2 and Supaporn was #3 in their class. In Titus’s middle class, Gan was #1 and JoJo was #3. We are so proud of all our children and their eagerness to learn.
Security and Safety
We are still working to raise funds to build a more secure wall around the Gethsemane Home property. The wall in the picture at the right is from another property close to the home. We would like to build a similar wall around the Gethsemane Home property. If you would like to help with this project, please contact us. Thank you!
Thanksgiving Celebration 2014
On Saturday and Sunday, November 29th and 30th, Titus and several other Lahu Shehlah leaders held a harvest celebration at Huai Pong village. Under the Son Ministries supplied the funds to provide much of the food, which included the purchase of a pig. Both Christians and non-Christians from six different villages were invited to take part in the weekend celebration.
Saturday was very busy as the food was prepared for the evening meal. Following the evening meal, worship services were held at the church. Worship songs and dances were performed by Gethsemane Home children, Asia’s Hope Home #1 children, and those from the Christian village of Nong Khio. The gospel was preached by Bandit, our brother in Christ. Bandit used the parable of the two men who prayed from Luke 18:9-14 as his text. Luke 18:14, “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Titus stated that over 100 non-Christians were at the Saturday evening service.
Titus spoke during the Thanksgiving service on Sunday morning. His message was from 1 Kings 17:7-16 and the story of the widow from Zarephath. In reading these verses it says that the widow first made bread for Elijah and then made bread for herself and her son from what was left. Instead of starving to death, they had enough to eat until the rains came. I would love to know all that Bandit and Titus said as they applied these messages from God’s word to the villagers as they thanked God for all His blessings.
A Village Christmas
This year it was decided that the church at Doi Mot would host a Christmas celebration on December 13-14 for the area villages. Andrew is the minister at Doi Mot.
More than 70 people gathered during the day on Saturday to prepare the food and play games. Some of the games included tug-of-war, tire rolling races, and a game where each person had a balloon tied to their leg and then tried to pop their opponent’s balloon.
On Saturday evening everyone gathered for a meal that was followed by more games and with several groups singing special songs and performing worship dances. The children from Gethsemane sang several Thai Christmas songs. They also performed a worship dance to the song “He is With Us”. During the evening’s activities, Bandit also preached a message about the heart. Over 100 people were there during the evening to learn more about the love of Jesus. The Christmas celebration concluded on Sunday morning with worship services held at the church.
